Preferred Books for IIT-JEE Main and Advanced

It is observed that IIT-JEE aspirants are always confused through the journey of their preparation about the books they need to follow. Most students follow books on the advice of their seniors while others gather loads of books on their way of preparation, in the end unable to accomplish anythng. One needs to understand that it is not following a particular set of books which guarantees success, but actually choosing from the vast ocean of these books a handful of them and religiously following them. From this post we try to answer students which books are best for them without being biased .

PHYSICS

following books are good at beginner's level for physics where one needs to develop concepts by reading better text to gain an understanding for solving basic & higher level thinking questions. These books also contain good amount of mind -boggling questions helpful for cracking JEE-Physics.

1.) H.C.VERMA- concepts of physics part 1 & 2 (Highly Recommended)
2.) NCERT - Textbooks for class 11  & 12 (Highly Recommended)

following books are for developing advanced level problem solving skills. Though most of the skills are easily solved by solving the above books but those below provide an additional aid to an aspirant who has completed with above mentioned books.

1.) Objective Physics - D.C. PANDEY
2.) MCQ- D Mukherjee (highly recommended)
3.) I.E.Irodov
4.) Halliday and Resnick

CHEMISTRY

Aspirants preparing for JEE-chemistry are highly varied for selection of the text books they read. But the reality is JEE chemistry is most easy to crack and one can solve 90% questions if one has thorough understanding of NCERT chemistry at 10+2. Thus reading NCERT whole-heartedly is a key.

Though one may find few areas difficult to understand and may thus use guides, refreshers and other reputed books to build a base for problem solving. A list of such books is given here although they may not be very essential :

1.) Physical Chemistry by ARIHANT Pubications / MTG
2.) Inorganic Chemistry by J.D.LEE / O.P.Tandon
3.) Organic Chemistry by Solomon / O.P.Tandon

MATHEMATICS

Like Physics one needs to get a thorough understanding of mathematics first as one sees a drastic change in the level at 10th grade as compared to that in 11th and 12th grades. For beginner's it is highly advisable to go through all problems of NCERT before trying their hands on JEE-Level maths. One must note that JEE level maths is quite tougher than that for board exams. But having a decent problem practice will essentially help an aspirant clear all his concepts and do well when it comes to solving tougher questions. Once you've had the basic knowledge these books will boost your confidence up by leaps.

1.) TMH (highly recommended)
2.) MCQ- A Das Gupta (highly recommended)
3.) R.D. Sharma

Disclaimer : though we have researched a lot to provide you this list but in the end it is upon the wish of the aspirant to choose books. The ones with which we mentioned highly recommended are the ones which have given great results to students in the past. We by no means intend to take side of any Publications or authors.

  1. The best way to prepare for JEE both Main & Advanced is to begin just after the 12th exams beginning with basics and as you move on solving questions from practice books and then taking timed mock tests. I have found really good series of JEE books for main & advanced by Wiley Maestro and they have useful resources on their website as well. check out http://www.wileymaestro.com
