After a meeting with all the IIT directors on 27 june 2012, Kapil Sibbal announced the new joint entrance examination pattern. The new Jee format will include two tests : Jee-main & Jee-advanced which would be conducted on two different dates.
jee-main will be conducted first by CBSE. Top 1,50,000 students including all categories will be shortlisted from top 20 percentile of 12th board & Jee-main score to be eligible to write jee-advanced. Jee-advanced will be conducted by board of iits. Jee-main score may help candidates to get into NIT's & IIIT's however only Jee-advanced will be used to create a shortlist of candidates qualified into IIT's. This seems to be final pattern over which the Jee would be conducted but one may even observe certain changes. The candidates who appeared in 2012 for their board exams would be given a chance to reappear in 2013 to improve upon their marks.
